Third Month at home with Baby...
Wow. My sweet little boy is 3 months old today! I feel like he changes so much everyday. I love to watch him interact with his surroundings and be able to communicate more with sounds and facial expressions. Here are some of the changes/milestones he's made:
~Cooing. Yes, there is something so funny and sweet about seeing him try his hardest to make sounds and trying to tell you something. Ever hear that imitation is the best form of flattery? Well, its true! I did some research and after he makes a cooing noise, I will try to mimic it and when I do, he grins from ear to ear and gets excited. I know, it sounds a little goofy but give it a try! You won't be disappointed.
~Smiling. Our little boy just loves to smile. There is nothing more rewarding than to see him happy and showing more emotion than a straight face or crying. Try paying attention to what makes them smile. Whether its a toy, a t.v. show, or the tone of your voice and facial expressions.
~Sitting up and Rolling. I about had a heart attack when I saw him sit up and almost roll off of the couch. I had set him there while I grabbed his bottle on the side table. I was less than 2 feet away! I couldn't believe it! Now I can't even turn my back for a second. Which I'm sure as he gets older, that'll become more of an issue.
~Teething. I had no idea that at 3 months old the process of teething could begin. Yes, its true. And here are the tell tale signs: fussiness, excessive drooling, constantly chewing on his/her hands and/or playing with the nipple of the bottle or breast. I've found a few things that seem to help him through this tough time; 1.) Teething ring that can be frozen. You can find these anywhere and are great to have! If you don't have one, try freezing a wash cloth and letting them chew on that! 2.) Teething tablets. I use the ones by "Hylands." They are all natural, and melt instantly when it hits their tongue. I usually will rub it into his lower gums when it starts to dissolve. 3.) Tylenol. I don't usually give this to him unless he is extremely fussy due to the teething. And if he is, I give him half of the suggested dosage. I use this as a last resort.
~Vision. This is so amazing to see. He really can see very well now. He will turn his head in my direction when I'm speaking and will watch my husband or I enter/leave the room. He also LOVES to watch Mikey Mouse Clubhouse on Disney and he stares at the bright colors and recognizes the different characters. Make sure you take time to stimulate them in different ways. Don't just plop them down in front of the T.V. Interactive toys are good so he/she can see you play with it.
Enjoy these moments! They all go by so fast!
xoxo,
Alex
