More swelling? You have GOT to me kidding me!?
Yes, another lovely side effect of the later term in pregnancy. Not only are you becoming increasingly uncomfortable, but adding swollen hands and feet? No thank you! So I've decided to go ahead and make a list of things you all can do to help alleviate these smptoms:
1.) Try soaking your hands and feet in some epsom salt in warm water. I'll even add a dash of essentail oil for the soothing scent.
2.) Make sure you are drinking plenty of water and staying hydrated! If you aren't much of a water drinker, try adding some cut up fruit like strawberries, kiwis, orange, lemon, etc.
3.) Have your husband/significant other give you a nice hand and foot massage. That'll help promote better blood circulation and reduce swelling. Add some aromatherapy lotion. My favorite is from bath and body works "Stress Relief" line: Eucalyptus Tea Body Cream which will only cost you about $15 and is TOTALLY worth it!
4.) Get a mani/pedi. A lot of the salons will have a combo deal to get both done at a fairly decent price just do some looking around. And we all know how good it feels to get pampered occasionally!
5.) SHOES! Ladies, use this as an excuse to go shopping. I've found that especially being pregnant in the summer that I can not wear sandals or flats due to the swelling. And with the heat, wearing full tennis shoes made my feet hot, sweaty and made my feet feel heavy. So, I've found some shoes that have support and are light on your feet...low top converse all stars! They come in a mass amount of colors and patterns and will cost you about $50/pair. I rock these all the time now!
6.) Lastly, sit down, relax, and put your feet up. As you are getting closer to the big day, you may find it harder and harder to do this but take time to just take a load off. Because once baby gets here, that'll be a novelty!
I hope some of these tips help you because they have worked wonders for me! No more cankles for this girl!
